At the Park    逛公园

A  This is the Beihai Park, or the North Sea Park.

    这是北海公园。

B  The North Sea Park?

   北海公园吗？

A  Yes. “Bei” in Mandarin means north, and “hai”means sea. But of course this is just a lake.

   是的。“Bei” 在北京话里就是（英文的）north; “hai” 意思是sea,当然只不过是个湖。

B  And a very beautiful lake.

   是个很美的湖。

A  Well, yes. In fact this is part of a big lake. See the bridge over there?

   是的，其实是一个大湖的一部分。看见那座桥了吗？

B  Yes? With heavy traffic on it?

    看见了。车辆很多的那座？

A  That’s right. On the other side of the bridge is the Central Sea and the South Sea. That’s the site of our Central People’s Government.

   对。桥那边是中海和南海。是我们中央人民政府所在地。

B  I see. That’s where Mr. Mao Zedong lived.  Is that right?

   明白了。那就是毛泽东先生住过的地方，对吗？

A  Yor’re right. Premier Zhou Enlai lived there too.

   是的。周恩来总理也在那儿住过。

B  I see. They are both very great men .

   啊。他们两位都是非常伟大的人物。

A  Yes, they are.

   是的。

B  That pagoda looks very beautiful.

   那宝塔看起来很美呀！

A  It’s a Buddhist pagoda. It’s over three hundred years old.

   那是一座佛教宝塔。有300多年历史了。

B  Is that so! Can we go there and have a closer look?

   是吗！我们能过去就近看一看吗？

A  Yes, of course, if you like.

   当然可以，如果您喜欢的话。

B  I’d love to.

   我很想去。

A  Then this way please.

   那就请这边走吧。

B  Thank you.
