甲 有什么事需要帮忙吗？

B Hm, thank you. I’m just looking for a place to buy a pack of cigarettes.

乙 啊，多谢。我只是想找个地方买包烟。

A Oh, that’s easy. Come with me. There’s a cigarette-stand round the corner.

甲 那好办。跟我来，那边拐角有个烟摊。

B Thanks a lot….. Your English is quite good.

乙 太谢谢了。你的英语很不错呀！

A Thank you, but it’s just so-so.

甲 谢谢，马马虎虎而已。

B Are you a college student?

乙 你是个大学生吗？

A No, I’m in senior high.

甲 不，我是个高中生。

B Are you from Beijing?

乙 你是北京人吗？

A Well, I was born in Nanjing. But my parents work here. So I go to school here.

甲 呃，我生在南京。不过我父母现在在北京工作。所以我就在北京上学。

B I see. What do your parents do?

乙 是这样。你父母做什么工作？

A My father works in a government office. My mother is a school teacher.

甲 我爸爸在政府机关工作。我妈妈是个（中小学）老师。

B Do you have any brothers or sisters?

乙 你有兄弟姐妹吗？

A No, I’m the only child in the family.

甲 没有。我是个独生子（我是家里惟一的孩子）。

B That’s because of the one-child policy, is that right?

乙 是由于计划生育（政策）， 对吗？

A That’s right. China has a large population you know.

甲 是的。中国人口太多了，您是知道的。

B Yes. I understandl. And China has al large number of bicycles, too!

乙 是的，我明白。而且中国还有大量的自行车呢！

A You’re certainly right! Oh, here we are, the cigarette-stand.

甲 完全正确！哦，到了，香烟摊！

甲 你抽什么牌的烟？

B Camel. That’s my favourite brand.

乙 骆驼牌。我最爱抽这种牌子的。

A 劳驾，给他来一包骆驼烟。

Vendor（摊主）：6块。

A Six yuan, RMB.

甲 6块人民币。

B That’s even cheaper than in America.

乙 比在美国还便宜呢！

A By the way, why don’t you try a Chinese brand?

甲 随便问问，您干嘛不试试中国烟？

B Well, they’re too strong for me. Do you smoke?

乙 它们太厉害了。你抽烟吗？

A No, I don’t.

甲 不，我不会（抽烟）。

B Are you busy with your lessons?

乙 你功课忙吗？

A Oh, yes! Very busy. Are you working here in Beijing?

甲 挺忙的。您在北京工作吗？

B No, I’m not. I’m a tourist. I’ve come for the Olympics.

乙 不，我不在北京工作。我是一个游客，我是为奥运来的。

A Oh, so you’re an athlete. What sport….

甲 啊，这么说您是位运动员，您是搞 ….

B No, no. I’m no athlete. I’m just a football fan.

乙 不是，不是。我可不是运动员。只是个足球迷而已。

A Me too!

甲 我也是。
